What Do You Buy On Your Credit Card There are millions of people today that own and use credit cards, but what do we use our plastic for? It has never been easier to spend on your credit card as most companies accept card payments whether it is over the phone, online or at point of sale. There are multiple ways for which we can use our credit cards, for holidays, buying online etc.
Women are more likely to use their credit card on items such as beauty products, clothes and supermarket essentials and gain points and cashback, if you hold a cashback credit card, for the things that they would buy anyway. Women spend an average of £170 on their credit cards each month whereas men use their card more each month spending an average of £270.
Men seem to be the ones that use their credit card to pay for the family holiday or to take their partner away for a break. Traveling expenses and holidays are the most common reasons for men to use their plastic. We tend to spend more on our cards in the summer with a 5% average increase, with holidays being the main reason for this. With the increased traffic of online buyers, 20 million, and the wider choice of shopping services available online we are using our credit cards more in this area too.
We are now more likely to spend on our credit cards although we say that we want to spend less than we did the previous year. Most people aren’t adhering to their thoughts though as it is all too easy and much more convenient for us to use credit cards rather than having to send postal orders or go to a cash machine to withdraw money to pay by cash.
With more and more people using credit to pay for everyday items the risk of your credit becoming harder to manage or becoming unmanageable is greater. Whether you are using your credit on everyday goods or the more expensive ‘be good to yourself’ items you have to spend sensibly or you will have more to worry about than which brand of coffee you are going to buy.
Whether it is men or women who are spending we are spending more, the average owed by each person has reached a high of over £7,000. We cannot afford to become complacent and remember that it is not invisible money. There’s no getting out of it, we do have to pay it back eventually.
